You will learn national material defining real estate, development and regulation, how real estate is owned and transferred, plus how it is financed and valued. In addition, this course will cover state specific material including Iowa Code 543B, 558A & Administrative Rules 193E which defines how an agent protects the public. This is one of the first things you will want to do. It can take 4-6 weeks for the results of the background check to come back to the Iowa Real Estate Commission. There are times that individuals wait until they are just waiting to test, but then cannot submit their application due to the results not being back. You will request the Background Application Packet with the Real Estate Commission. Once you receive it, you will go to your local police station for fingerprinting (please note that some locations require appointments). Once you have completed the fingerprints, you will submit them back to the Real Estate Commission. Upon receipt, they will send the prints off for the formal background check.
This is the final step in getting your license. In order to submit your real estate license, you will need to have proof of all coursework completion (certificates), Errors & Omissions Insurance, as well as a Brokerage. Please note, you will not be able to submit your application without deciding on a brokerage. This process can be somewhat confusing, but don't worry, we will help you!
